In the beginning the stars shone brighter than the sun itself. Every day was full of blinding light and night as we know it did not yet exist. This endless light first grew a beautiful green planet filled with countless oceans and forests that were home to animals and humans that grew and thrived in their sunny environment. However, there was no sun tan lotion in the beginning, so over time the humans began to have thick, dark, and leathery skin like alligators. Because of the high temperatures, the animals also began to change. They shed their fur, exposing their skin to the sun and walked around like blobs of flesh until they too began to resemble alligators.
Soon the whole world was a desert filled with alligator-like creatures of all different sizes. The oceans and lakes began to quickly evaporate. The alligator humans, being the most intelligent out of all the alligator creatures, knew they had to do something and they had to do it fast. The one name Yah thought it would be a brilliant idea to create a black tarp big enough to fit over the entire sky so that a part of the day would be dark and the world would get a rest from the burning light. Another named Weh agreed, but said they would still need to be able to see during this time. So, together they created a giant black tarp, big enough to fit over the entire sky and poked holes in it so a few gentle stars could shine enough light so all could see.

They let the sun and the stars burn the world for a few hours to feed the crops and when it came time, the alligator humans, Yah and Weh, threw the giant black tarp over the sky. The alligator creatures didn’t know what to do in the dark at first. Some gathered and closed their eyes and slept for the first time. Others gathered and concocted a serum to rub on their bodies to prevent sun burns and later called it sun tan lotion. The alligator creatures began to resemble their original forms. The animals grew their fur back, and the people shed their alligator skin. Now, the tarp is kept a secret by the government, and people praise the mighty god Yahweh for the creation of the world we know. Some say Yah and Weh are still alive and that they are the ones who drape the world with the great black tarp each night.
